Faith Formation

Baptism Preparation Class

Class will be offered for parents and godparents who have new born babies and children under 7 years old. PSJXXIII Every Second Saturday: Next class is January 11, or February 8

1:00 –2:30pm class in English

2:30 – 4:00pm in Vietnamese

OCIA Class at every Monday from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm in the PSJXXIII religious school

OCIA/OCIC is the process by which people become members of the Roman Catholic Church.
 Rite of Acceptance:
The Rite of Acceptance into the Order of Catechumens marks the end of the Pre-Catechumenate and the beginning of the second phase - the Catechumenate.
 
Saturday, March 15th: Rite of Election at 11:00 AM (Sponsors need to be there) at St. Charles (7112 S 12th St., Tacoma)
 Sunday, Mar. 23rd: First Scrutiny at St. John of the Woods at 11:30am Mass. (9903 24th Ave. SE.)
Saturday, Mar. 29th: Second Scrutiny at PSJ23 4:30pm Mass
Saturday, April 5th: Third Scrutiny at PSJ23 at 4:30 pm Mass
Saturday, April 12th: RETREAT at SJOW from 9am to 12 noon. Sponsors need to be there.
Saturday, April 19th, Rehearsal from 9am to 10:30am. Sponsors need to be there.
Easter Vigil, Baptism at 8:00 PM Mass.


Adult Catechism Class

Every Wednesday at 6:30 to 7:30 at the PSJXXIII Parish Center

We use the Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church as our study, prayer, and meditation guide.

Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Movement (TNTT) will begin early registrations with $30 discount on March 2, March 9th, and March 16th after 7:45am and 4:00pm mass. First day of TNTT will be on March 23rd.

New this year, we have a referral discount for anyone bringing a friend who was not registered last year and get an additional $20 off during early registration dates.

Saint Rita Church of PSJXXIII Parish Family


Dear Friends,

 

We have three added liturgies in the next two months and are asking for volunteer help. Please let me know if you are willing to help. Note these upcoming dates at St. Rita:

  • We will pray Stations of the Cross at St. Rita on Good Friday, April 18. Fr. Hendry will lead us in prayer.  We need a Cross bearer and two candle bearers, Email me!
  • Our Church Consecration Day on Saturday, April 26, will include an 11 a.m. Mass and then fellowship with coffee and treats in the church hall afterwards.  Please let me know if you would like to be an Eucharist Minister at Mass.  Cookies or pastry donations will be very much appreciated. Raffle tickets will be sold after Mass.
  • St. Rita's Feast Day is on Saturday, May 24. It also includes Mass at 11 a.m., followed by a light lunch in the church hall.  Again, we are hoping you will volunteer to be an Eucahrist Minister at Mass. Email me!  A freewill donation of a minimum of $10 donation per person for the lunch is suggested. We ask that you RSVP to me by May 10th so that we can plan the food for the lunch. There will be a raffle at the end of the luncheon. Tickets will be sold after both Masses with the drawing on May 24. No need to be present to win.

***** If you would like to participate as a minister at Good Friday Stations of the Cross and either or both Masses, please let me know in what ministry and I will have one of our organizers contact you. 

 

We hope to see you Saturday at our Prayer Service. Reminder: This week's prayer service includes the Anointing of the Sick. Invite others from other parishes to join us.

Visitation Church of PSJXXIII Parish Family


Lenten Small Group

One of the most effective ways to strengthen your faith and community is by joining a small group. This Lent, we will be offering a small reflection group each Sunday throughout Lent. The theme is "Pilgrims of Hope" which aligns with the theme of hope in this Jubilee Year. All are welcome to join this small group at coffee and donuts in the lower hall following the 9:30 am Mass at Visitation.


Visitation Choir - members Needed

Have you ever considered joining the choir? Do you love to sing? This Lent, we invite interested singers to join us during the 40 days of the Lenten season. Choir rehearsals are on Thursday evenings and at 8:30 am on Sundays. Choir will sing at the 9:30 am Mass at Visitation on Sundays through Lent and on Easter. We are approaching our 175th anniversary (May 31, 2025) as an archdiocese and hoping to capture participation in the Season of Service. As you know, the goal is to get local Catholics living out our legacy of faith by serving others. We’re trying to reach 175,000 hours in honor of the 175th Anniversary and as of right now we have around 30,000 hours.
