OCIA/OCIC is the process by which people become members of the Roman Catholic Church.
 Rite of Acceptance:
The Rite of Acceptance into the Order of Catechumens marks the end of the Pre-Catechumenate and the beginning of the second phase - the Catechumenate.

Easter Vigil, Baptism at 8:00 PM Mass.

We use the Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church as our study, prayer, and meditation guide.

Lent Liturgies and Masses at St. Rita


Dear Friends

 

Senior Mass at Pope St. John XXIII Church: Mass and Anointing of the Sick to Celebrate Easter will be on Wednesday, April 9th at 10:30AM at PSJXXIII and reception will follow the Mass. We will have some entertainment from Pre-K class and raffle tickets with many prizes. All are welcome. 


For the remaining Saturdays of Lent, we will pray the Stations of the Cross in place of the regular prayer service.  We hope to see you Saturday. Invite others from other parishes to join us.

We have added two special Masses, one in April and one in May. Note these upcoming dates at St. Rita
·         Our Church Consecration Day on Saturday, April 26, will include an 11 a.m. Mass and Anointing of the Sick. Following Mass, there will be fellowship with coffee and treats in the church hall Please let me know if you would like to be an Eucharist Minister at Mass.  Cookies or pastry donations will be very much appreciated. Raffle tickets will be sold after Mass.
·         St. Rita's Feast Day is on Saturday, May 24. It also includes Mass at 11 a.m., followed by a light lunch in the church hall.  Again, we are hoping you will volunteer to be an Eucahrist Minister at Mass. Email me!  A freewill donation of a minimum of $10 donation per person for the lunch is suggested. We ask that you RSVP to me by May 10th so that we can plan the food for the lunch. There will be a raffle at the end of the luncheon. Tickets will be sold after both Masses with the drawing on May 24. No need to be present to wi  Donations for the upkeep of St. Rita Church are always welcome. They can be brought on Saturdays or mailed directly to Pope St. John XXIII, clearly marked for St.Rita. Saturday Morning Mass is now celebrated exclusively at Visitation Church in Tacoma. All parishioners are invited to join us at 9:00 AM.

And, at Saint Rita Church, a special Saturday Prayer group takes place at 10:00 AM.

Last week, Rick and Nancy Keller-Scholz invited all of us to share a moment when we have experienced the power and love of God in our lives. You were asked to share that moment on a notecard. If you did not turn in a notecard last week, it’s not too late. We will have a basket at the church entrance for you to drop off your card. Some of these “God moments” will be shared in the bulletin during the Easter season. If you have any questions, please stop by our Small Lenten group after Mass in the lower hall.

We are approaching our 175th anniversary (May 31, 2025) as an archdiocese and hoping to capture participation in the Season of Service. As you know, the goal is to get local Catholics living out our legacy of faith by serving others. We’re trying to reach 175,000 hours in honor of the 175th Anniversary and as of right now we have around 30,000 hours.
