Religious Education Programs
The CCD Registration Form is ready for families to pick up at the entrance to church or you can go to the parish website: www.psj23.org
Please register as soon as possible so that we can prepare for the year make students lists for each grade and teachers can prepare.
We are very fortunate to be able to have CCD classes for our young people from Pre-K to 8th grade; First Communion classes for 2nd grade and older. These help them know their Faith, learn to live it and love it. Please give your children this opportunity by registering them for CCD. Pregnancy Aid of Tacoma Needs Your Help!
Pregnancy Aid serves the well-being of families with children in & beyond the womb by providing material and emotional support.
At this time, we are looking for sub volunteers. We are low or out of the following items: baby wipes, size NB, 5-6 diapers and Pull-Ups, preemie clothing, toddler clothing up to 5T, toys, and monetary donations.
We are open M, W, & Sat. @902 Market St. in Tacoma, from 10-1:30pm.

Knight of the Columbus
"Dear Parishioners, the Knights of Columbus hosts a Fellowship Coffee and Doughnuts Meeting after the Sunday Pope St John 23 9:45 Mass in the Parish Hall, unless announced otherwise when there is some other event taking place in the Hall. This is a great time to meet your fellow parishioner praising God with great sharing and discussions. All of Parish Family members are invited."
Visitation Church
Painting
- The trim on the church and rectory buildings are being re-painted and the project is almost complete. Not only does this freshen the look of our buildings, but will also protect against water intrusion. The cost of the paint job is $16,210.
- We will pay for this project out of savings and try to fundraise the amount to replenish our savings account.
- Fundraising will begin in the fall. If you are interested in helping, please contact Jeannine at the Parish Office.
- Any donations made to this project should be made to "Visitation Church" and indicate "painting" on your donation.

The Variables for Women's Success
in Engineering & Computing
- Engineering and computer science — two of the most lucrative STEM fields — remain heavily male dominated. Because fewer women study and work in STEM, these fields tend to perpetuate inflexible, exclusionary, male-dominated cultures that are not supportive of or attractive to women and minorities.
- Teachers, who are predominantly women, often have math anxiety they pass onto girls, and they often grade girls harder for the same work, and assume girls need to work harder to achieve the same level as boys.
- By the time students reach college, women are significantly underrepresented in STEM majors. Only 21% of engineering majors and 19% of computer science majors are women. It is incumbent upon us to find ways we can stop steering girls away from math and science and make these fields more welcoming for women. Source: www.aauw.org
