Father Tuan Invites Us to Pray for the Soul of Pope Francis

Dear Parishioners,
It is with deep sorrow that we share the news from the Vatican: our beloved Holy Father, Pope Francis, passed away at 7:35 AM (Vatican time) on April 21, 2025.
This morning at 8:00 AM, Pope Saint John XXIII offered a special Mass for the Repose of the Soul of Pope Francis, using the liturgy from the Roman Missal: Masses for the Dead – I. For the Pope. As we are in the Easter Octave, the readings of the day were used, with no Gloria and no Creed.
Following the guidance of Father Tuan, our Pastor, and in accordance with the directives of the Archdiocese and the USCCB, we ask all members of the parish community to pray for the soul of Pope Francis.
Even if your time is limited, you are encouraged to prayerfully offer:
- One Our Father
- One Hail Mary
- One Glory Be
- The Eternal Rest Prayer:
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace. Amen.
An image of Pope Francis has been placed in the sanctuary, accompanied by flowers, votive candles, and the Paschal Candle, as is customary during days of mourning. We invite you to come before the image and pray for the repose of his soul.
As we continue the Divine Mercy Novena, we also ask that you pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet with the intention of entrusting Pope Francis to God’s infinite mercy.
May our Lord grant eternal rest to our late Supreme Pontiff, Pope Francis, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
In Christ’s Peace,
