Faith Formation

OCIA Class at every Monday from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm in the PSJXXIII religious school

OCIA/OCIC is the process by which people become members of the Roman Catholic Church.
 Rite of Acceptance:
The Rite of Acceptance into the Order of Catechumens marks the end of the Pre-Catechumenate and the beginning of the second phase - the Catechumenate.
 
Saturday, April 12th: RETREAT at SJOW from 9am to 12 noon. Sponsors need to be there.
Saturday, April 19th, Rehearsal from 9am to 10:30am. Sponsors need to be there.
Easter Vigil, Baptism at 8:00 PM Mass.


Baptism Preparation Class

Class will be offered for parents and godparents who have new born babies and children under 7 years old. PSJXXIII Every Second Saturday: Next class is May 10 or June 14

1:00 –2:30pm class in English

2:30 – 4:00pm in Vietnamese

Saint Rita Church of PSJXXIII Parish Family


Dear Friends,


We will pray the Stations of the Cross this Saturday, April 12 at 10 a.m. but the Anointing of the Sick is being rescheduled to Saturday, April 26 after our 11 a.m. Consecration Day Mass.We will resume the Anointing on the 2nd Saturday on May 10.


We will pray the Stations of the Cross at St. Rita next week on Good Friday, April 18 at noon. There will be NO coffee hour afterwards.


Upcoming St. Rita Masses: Our Church Consecration Day on Saturday, April 26, will include an 11 a.m. Mass, Anointing of the Sick, and then fellowship with coffee and treats in the church hall afterwards. Cookie or pastry donations will be very much appreciated. We will sell tickets for the May 24 raffle, no need to be present to win


St. Rita's Feast Day is on Saturday, May 24. It also includes Mass at 11 a.m., followed by a light lunch in the church hall. A freewill donation of a minimum of $10 donation per person for the lunch is suggested. We ask that you RSVP to me by May 10th so that we can plan the food for the lunch. There will be a raffle at the end of the luncheon. Tickets will be sold after both Masses with the drawing on May 24. No need to be present to win.

Saturday Morning Mass is now celebrated exclusively at Visitation Church in Tacoma. All parishioners are invited to join us at 9:00 AM.

And, at Saint Rita Church, a special Saturday Prayer group takes place at 10:00 AM.

Welcome to Vis Lenten Small Group

Last week, Rick and Nancy Keller-Scholz invited all of us to share a moment when we have experienced the power and love of God in our lives. You were asked to share that moment on a notecard. If you did not turn in a notecard last week, it’s not too late. We will have a basket at the church entrance for you to drop off your card. Some of these “God moments” will be shared in the bulletin during the Easter season. If you have any questions, please stop by our Small Lenten group after Mass in the lower hall.

Outreach Community


Our Food Bank hosted an Easter egg hunt for the kids living at the Tacoma Rescue Mission. Earlier in the week, volunteers organized 70 Easter baskets with toys and goodies, that were donated by parishioners across all of our campuses. Thank you for your support in making Easter a special time for the kids at the shelter.

Season of Service hours

We are approaching our 175th anniversary (May 31, 2025) as an archdiocese and hoping to capture participation in the Season of Service. As you know, the goal is to get local Catholics living out our legacy of faith by serving others. We’re trying to reach 175,000 hours in honor of the 175th Anniversary and as of right now we have around 30,000 hours.
