Baptism Class

Class will be offered for parents and godparents who have newborn babies and children under 7 years old. Class on Every Second Saturday

Faith Formation:

It is time to register your children for Religious Education and Sacrament Preparation classes. Classes will begin in September. Registration forms are available in the entry of the Church, and website: POPE ST. JOHN XXIII PARISH (psj23.org)

Please, complete the registration forms and return them with the fees to the office or place them in the collection basket at Mass.

Registering your child for First Communion, you must include a copy of your child’s Birth and Baptismal Certificates.

Leadership Group

We have open roles in on our Leadership Group. The roles of chairman and secretary of the St John of the Woods Mission must be filled by August 31st. Please contact the parish office for more information.

We are updating our registry for regional parishes. If you are not currently a registered parishioner, we invite you to consider registering at this time. This information will help us in so many ways: church envelopes, planning for the future, budgeting, beside having updated information about you. Please scan QR Code in the Bulletin to online register, or write your name, address and put in the collection basket.

STEM Academy

The STEM Gap: Women and Girls in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics

Engineering and computer science — two of the most lucrative STEM fields — remain heavily male dominated. Because fewer women study and work in STEM, these fields tend to perpetuate inflexible, exclusionary, male-dominated cultures that are not supportive of or attractive to women and minorities.
Teachers, who are predominantly women, often have math anxiety they pass onto girls, and they often grade girls harder for the same work, and assume girls need to work harder to achieve the same level as boys.
By the time students reach college, women are significantly underrepresented in STEM majors. Only 21% of engineering majors and 19% of computer science majors are women. It is incumbent upon us to find ways we can stop steering girls away from math and science and make these fields more welcoming for women. Source: www.aauw.org
