Saint Rita Church of PSJXXIII Parish Family

Dear Friends,

Each Saturday morning we read and listen to the Scripture readings for the day and say prayers of petition from our group. To get the readings on your phone, I was advised to put "USCCB" in the Google search engine or whatever search engine you use on your phone and it opens to the day's readings. Try it! If most of us have the readings on our phones, the prayer leader will not need to bring as many printed copies each week.

Upcoming Prayer Services and Coffee Hour Fellowship:

Saturday, February 1, *10 a.m.

Saturday, February 8, *10 am. Anointing of the Sick will also be administered

Saturday, February 15, *10 am.

Saturday, February 22, *10 a.m.

* The Rosary is prayed at 9:45 a.m. prior to the liturgical readings for the day and the prayers of supplication

Attached is the February calendar for St. Pope John XXIII Parish and School. Be sure to look it over and choose some events and activities that interest you. Hopefully, I will be able to include the monthly calendar each month. Get involved!

We are looking forward to celebrating our Church Consecration Day on or around April 27 and St. Rita's Feast Day on or around May 22. Both will be celebrated with a Mass and most likely some type of a social event. There will be more specific details in the next couple of months.

Donations for the upkeep of St. Rita Church are always welcome. They can be brought on Saturdays or mailed directly to Pope St. John XXIII, clearly marked for St.Rita. Also, there is the link to online donations that go directly to into St. Rita Church fund https://ppay.co/x5kCu6hL3yE

We need parishioners to join our facility team.  Volunteering as part of the facility team is a beautiful way to serve God and your parish community. By helping care for the church, you contribute to maintaining a sacred space where we gather to worship, pray, and seek comfort. Your efforts, no matter how small, help create a welcoming and peaceful environment for others to encounter God. It's a humble and rewarding form of stewardship that allows you to give back to the church that nourishes your faith, while also strengthening bonds with fellow parishioners as you work together for a common purpose.

Early Learning - Collier Center

The Early Learning Center at the Collier Center secured a grant through the State of WA to do several minor renovations to improve safety for our students. This included replacing rotting wood in the ramps and stairs, installing new windows, replacing part of the roof, adding another external exit at the rear of the building, adding an ADA ramp at the rear of the building, new paint, and exterior lighting. Construction will be finished by mid-February. We are so grateful for everyone's patience throughout this process and excited for the updates to this building!

Recently, you may have noticed that some areas of our churches are very clean, while others may appear slightly disorganized. As you may know, we have temporarily hired custodial services for the main campus and St. John of the Woods Mission during this transitional period. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and kindly ask for your help in keeping the church tidy.

Pope Francis stated in his February 2022 letter announcing the Jubilee 2025: "We must fan the flame of hope that has been given us and help everyone to gain new strength and certainty by looking to the future with an open spirit, a trusting heart and far-sighted vision. The forthcoming Jubilee can contribute greatly to restoring a climate of hope and trust as a prelude to the renewal and rebirth that we so urgently desire..."
