Pastoral Plan and Activities
The Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Please read today’s Gospel Luke 6:17, 20 - 26
We listen to Jesus’ Beatitudes as presented in St. Luke’s Gospel. If your Bible has footnotes, read the notes for today’s Gospel. Jesus teaches that happiness and blessings come to those who accept his teachings. Sorrow and woe will trouble those who seek wealth and pleasure.
Dialogue: Talk about the ways you might be poor, hungry, weeping, or why people may hate or exclude you. Read St. Matthew’s version of the Beatitudes (cf. St. Matthew’s Gospel 5:10-10) and compare them to St. Luke’s. Which version do you like the best? Which Beatitude do you like the best? How would you explain one of the Beatitudes or Woes to a friend, to a young child? Can you think of “famous” people who reflect the Beatitudes or the Woes?
Activity: This week (Monday) we celebrate Valentine’s Day. As a family, think of how you might put into practice one of the Beatitudes that day.

Synod Listening Session
Pope Francis invites the entire Church to participate in the Synod on Synodality, which is a two-year process of listening and dialogue to reflect on a theme that is decisive for its life and mission. The mission of the Church requires the entire People of God to be on a journey together, with each member playing his or her crucial role. The purpose of this movement is for all the Church to unite in communion and participation as we move forward and become a more synodal Church in the long term.
As part of the worldwide Synod Process, St. Ann is hosting a Listening Session in the church: Sunday, Feb. 20th after 9:45am Mass
Please join us as we discern together the Church's life and mission and each of the gifts present in our communities as well as our responsibilities to one another as Children of God.
