Religious Education Programs
The CCD Registration Form is ready for families to pick up at the entrance to church or you can go to the parish website: www.psj23.org
Please register as soon as possible so that we can prepare for the year make students lists for each grade and teachers can prepare.
We are very fortunate to be able to have CCD classes for our young people from Pre-K to 8th grade; First Communion classes for 2nd grade and older. These help them know their Faith, learn to live it and love it. Please give your children this opportunity by registering them for CCD. Pregnancy Aid of Tacoma Needs Your Help!
Pregnancy Aid serves the well-being of families with children in & beyond the womb by providing material and emotional support.
At this time, we are looking for sub volunteers. We are low or out of the following items: baby wipes, size NB, 5-6 diapers and Pull-Ups, preemie clothing, toddler clothing up to 5T, toys, and monetary donations.
We are open M, W, & Sat. @902 Market St. in Tacoma, from 10-1:30pm.

Farewell and Gratitude: Josh Silone's New Journey
Josh Silone, a long time altar server and acolyte, has accepted a job in Longview, WA and will no longer be able to serve at Visitation. We offer our sincere gratitude to Josh for his loving service and leadership and training for our younger servers. May God bless Josh in all his future endeavors!
Support Needed for Church Flower Ministry
We have 2 volunteers who have offered to arrange flowers in the church. However, we have a very small budget for flowers. If you would like to donate to this ministry, please indicate on your donation that it's designated for "flowers." Thank you to our 2 volunteers who will help keep our church beautiful.
Painting
- The trim on the church and rectory buildings are being re-painted and the project is almost complete. Not only does this freshen the look of our buildings but will also protect against water intrusion. The cost of the paint job is $16,210.
- We will pay for this project out of savings and try to fundraise the amount to replenish our savings account.
- Fundraising will begin in the fall. If you are interested in helping, please contact Jeannine at the Parish Office.
- Any donations made to this project should be made to "Visitation Church" and indicate "painting" on your donation.
Pope St. John XXIII STEM ACADEMY
Excitement is building for the 2024 – 2025 school year
School begins Wednesday August 28th, 2024
- To our students, dedicated teachers, wonderful staff, pastors, principal, parents, parishioners, volunteers and generous patrons, thank you for your passion for Pope St. John XXIII STEM Academy! We are truly a community built on faith, dignity, and respect.
- Christ is the reason for this school. He is the unseen, but ever-present teacher in its classrooms. He is the model for its faculty and the inspiration of its students. PSJ STEM Academy exists to provide each student with an excellent combination of STEM and Catholic education to develop the whole child – mind, body, and spirit.
- Over the course of this summer there were a total of 13 projects completed at our parish school. We are blessed with the efforts and talents of many to accomplish the task of updating our beloved building. Thank you for the substantial support from the Fulcrum Foundation, Korsmo Construction, and Shea Homes!
Completed School Projects:
·New Lighting in classes, offices, halls
·Updated electrical in classes and offices
·Old windows replaced, new blinds all classes
·New bathroom fixtures, stalls, and washing stations
·Refurbishment of small windows on lower level
·New flooring – art room, Title I room, advancement office, library, and kitchen
·Painting all walls
·New black fencings around campus
·New field turf
·New Basketball and Volleyball courts
·Refurbishment of handrails and some door frames
·Classroom doors updated to include windows
·Resurfacing the playground / parking lot
Outreach Community
Catholic Cemeteries in Seattle, WA will be hosting a Meet & Greet
at Pope St. John XXIII Parish
on September 7th and 8th.
A speaker will present at the 4:30pm Mass on Saturday and the 9:45am Mass on Sunday.
