"During our time together you asked specific questions, upon which I have reflected and provided answers in the accompanying document. We have already shared my opening comments from that meeting and I hope the rest of your community has been able to read them. I want people to understand that as a shepherd, I am providing a vision for the future. This is not my vision. After much prayer and discernment, I know God has a better future in store for us."

Please read today’s Gospel Luke 4:1-13
The Sunday Gospel describes the devil tempting Jesus in the desert after his 40 days of prayer and fasting. The reading from St. Matthew’s Gospel is from Ash Wednesday the beginning of our 40 days of Lent. In Matthew’s Gospel we find Jesus talking about the traditional Lenten practices of Prayer, Fasting (Sacrifices), and Almsgiving (Generosity).
Dialogue: Imagine that one of the family is a news reporter and 3 others are the 3 apostles. Ask some questions and let the 3 imagine how the apostles might have responded. Many people remember a special experience or sense of God’s presence on receiving a sacrament, in a time of prayer, in daily life. Ask members to describe such an experience if they had had one
Activity: Read Psalm 27 and pick out some favorite verses. Perhaps repeat them at the family meal, memorize your favorite verse and repeat it throughout the day and in your morning and evening prayers.
